As I wrote in the About Me section - I spent a large part of my career in criminal justice. It is this experience that led me to working as a counsellor.
For many years I worked with service users in the probation setting who had experienced a lot of trauma and life adversity. I was met daily with both the challenges of everyday life as well as the devastating after effects of trauma often manifesting in addiction, uncontrollable emotions, relationship difficulties, self harm and mental health diagnosis. I have training in working with personality disorders.
I facilitated therapeutic group work and this experience has later led me, as a therapist, to counselling in prison. I have worked with survivors of childhood and adult abuse who have CPTSD, PTSD, dissociative experiences and diagnosis.
Alongside my private practice, I manage a counselling service for women leaving prison who have experienced child loss and separation.
Having spent a lot of time in public service, I am also here to support professionals who may have feelings of burnout or have experienced vicarious trauma.
