About Me

Traditionally in therapy very little is shared about the therapist. The therapist can be a mirror to the client’s own world and giving too much of ourselves can cloud this.

However, relationally speaking, its also important that we can connect. The basis of good therapy is the relationship itself and so I am sharing a little about my background so you can decide whether I might have the right knowledge and experience to help you.  In writing this, I hope you can get a sense of who I am, and whether I am someone you would like to work with.

I have a passion for working with people and my background is in criminal justice. I spent many years working for the probation service.   This experience means that there is not much that I haven’t seen or heard. I’m not easily shocked, I’m not judgemental and, after years of experience of working with people, often in crisis,  I have the capacity to hold your emotions, life experience and fears, firmly and safely.

Like you, my character has many parts, but for the purposes of our therapeutic relationship - I am warm, grounded, caring, and sincere. I can be serious without taking myself too seriously.

I offer generalised counselling, working with clients with anxiety, depression, relationship/attachment and family challenges, complex post-traumatic stress disorder, PTSD, addictions, self harm, and struggles with emotional management and low self esteem.

I offer face to face appointments from my room in Farnham as well as sessions online or via telephone.

I am a member of the BACP which means I belong to a regulatory body for the counselling profession. I adhere to their ethical framework in my work with clients.
